We all know that exercising is important for a healthy lifestyle, so get out there and get moving! But before you get too far, remember to warm up your muscles by stretching. Flexibility exercises can help loosen up your body, helping you to feel better and more comfortable on a daily basis. You should stretch before all physical activity, even walking. So follow these simple steps to a more flexible body.
If you feel pain, stop immediately and consult your physician or therapist. Never bounce while stretching; make steady movements that help your muscles stretch naturally.
Leg stretch: Sit in a chair with your legs bent in front of you. Straighten your right leg as much as possible without locking your knee. Lengthen your spine then lean forward reaching your hands toward your feet. Hold the stretch for 20 to 30 seconds, then rest and repeat with a flexed foot. Repeat the routine on your left side.
Chest Stretch: Begin by standing with your arms at your side and feet shoulder-width apart. Extend both arms behind your back and clasp your hands together, if possible. Stop when you feel a good stretch or sense discomfort. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds, then rest and repeat.
Quadriceps Stretch: Stand next to a sturdy chair or a counter with your feet about shoulder-width apart. Use the left hand to hold onto the chair or counter for balance. Slowly, bend your right knee back grabbing your right ankle with your right hand until your thigh is straight up and down. Do not lean forward or backward, but stand up straight. (If you can’t grasp your ankle in your hand, just keep your leg as close to perpendicular as possible and hold the bend, or place your foot on the seat of a chair.) Hold the stretch for 30 seconds then repeat on the left side.
Don’t worry if you can’t touch your toes or stretch as far as others, just do your best and improve over time.

Thanks to the sponsorship by OxygenWorldwide, The Style Foundation’s mission to create a sustainable economy in developing countries are able to continue the work on the schools in Kenya.
VeraPijnenburg: “In the three weeks I spent with a group of 35 enthusiastic volunteers in Kenya we have helped build a project related to a trade school for catering and construction business. Together with the local population we helped bricklaying for lodges, make foundations, connected a water pump and painted the local school.”
This project is primarily aimed at education for a better future for the population. The lodges are designed for the tourists and the income thereof will be for the maintenance of the school. The Style Foundation are very grateful for the sponsorship from the whole team at OxygenWorldwide!

Little ray of sunshine – Making wishes come true.
Iqra who is a 9 year old girl with complex congenital heart disease. Iqra had one wish and her one wish to go and visit the magnficient Disneyland Paris! Unfortunately going to Disneyland Paris is not an easy ride for a little girl with this kind of heart condition. To make this dream come true Iqra needed an oxygen concentrator which would enable her to breathe properly every minute.
Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity was formed in 2004 to help children who are living with serious or life-limiting illnesses between the ages of 3-18, across the United Kingdom.
It does this by:-
- Granting these childrens wishes however impossible the wish may seem
- Helping hospitals, hospices and specialist schools improve their facilities
With help and support Rays of Sunshine are able to turn wishes into happy memories for thousands of young people today.
The charity Little Ray of Sunshine makes wishes of very ill children come true every week and for Iqra’s wish she will be able to go on her dream destination and meet all the Disney characters and see he dream become a reality – we will follow Iqra on her trip in April and she is very excited to be able to make this dream a reality.
Oxygen Worldwide have been providing medical oxygen for patients and clients who need medical oxygen to breathe without this life line these people could not travel to visit new places, see friends and family or be able to see the world and its many interesting and beautiful places. We look forward to finding out all about Iqra’s trip and seeing her wish come true.
